Jageshwar Dham: A Sacred Land of 124 Ancient Shiva Temples

Nestled amidst dense deodar forests in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, Jageshwar Dham is one of the most spiritually significant destinations in the Kumaon region. Situated at an altitude of around 1,870 meters, this ancient temple complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its peaceful surroundings, sacred energy, and rich architectural heritage.

Jageshwar Dham is believed to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas according to some ancient texts and is closely associated with the Shaivism tradition. The temple complex consists of 124 stone temples, dating back to the 7th–12th centuries, showcasing remarkable Nagara-style architecture. The sound of temple bells and the flow of the Jata Ganga stream create a deeply meditative atmosphere.
